Hinge Bound Door Fix
Spray the hinges with lubrication.
Hinge bound door fix. Open the door fully and then put a wedge under it. Use a hinge leaf as a template to make a cardboard shim that you can slip behind the leaf. If a hinge leaf is recessed below the surface of the jamb or the door edge the door will not close well and the hinge will bend when you close it. This should prevent the door from sticking against the wall s surface on the hinge side.
Protruding screw heads and badly placed hinge flaps can stop a door from closing and even damage the door. A door with an exposed hinge will exhibit the problem of the door binding to the frame on the lock side. If the binding is severe on the hinge side insert shims to push the door farther away from the wall. Most problems with binding doors occur with the hinges.
Start by removing the hinge closest to the binding point. If your door binds at the hinges squeals during closing or stops almost immediately when pushed to close. Clear any paint from the slots in the hinge screws and remove them.
